DescriptionEarly Thoracoscope. Long thick metal rod with small lens at end. The instrument head has one large producting cylindrical attachment and two smaller ones. Black plastic central part inscribed with 'HOPKINS', 'Storz Germany', and '10320 A 0'. End of instrument is a black circuler piece with a small lense at the centre.
Thoracoscopes are used for a specific type of endoscopy - internal imaging technique. These devices can help when there is a need to visualize lungs, pleura or mediastinum. This is a Hopkins telescopic rod lens, which allows adjustment of the viewing direction during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.
