DescriptionBlack Ophthalmoscope with ivory detachable screw-on handle contained within a small rectangular black case with rounded edges and a dark purple lining. An Ophthalmoscope is used to examine the inside structures of the eye in order to detect and evaluate symptoms. 'R. WHITELAW ABERDEEN' found printed on label on the inside of the lid. Robert Whitelaw was a vendor of medical instruments in Aberdeen established in 1894. Ophthalmoscope made by Curry and Paxton ophthalmology instrument producers in London established in 1876.
Part of 13 donated objects from the ophthalmology collection once belonging to P.K. Ray and used by Mr Frank Green FRCSEd.
