These are useful for patient safety, training and are the gold standard of this surgery which makes it patient specific. Techniques can be specific for each patient and each surgeon. Printed at the Maxillofacial Unit at St John's Hospital, Livingston, Scotland.
Orthognathic planning process for a patient with a class III malocclusion on a CLass III skeletal base. Requirements for planning process include:
1. Pre-orthodontic surgical plan with prediction
2. Low dose planning CT scan
3. Intra -oral dental scan or surface scan of final pre-surgical orthodontic model
4. Data imported into surgical planning software
5. Exact surgical cuts planned to avoid important structure
6. Surgical prediction results shown to patient
7. Surgical prediction discussed with patient
8. Planning data imported into CAD design software to produce patent specific cutting and positioning guides
