His previous operation was performed in 2014 with a wide local excision, but after a few years free of disease, this recently came back, entirely invading the left hand side of his maxilla. The second operation in 2021 required an extensive resection of three quarters of his maxilla, up to the left orbital rim and to the zygoma. A custom orbital plate reconstructed the shape of his left orbital floor and a vascularised free bone flap harvested from his left pelvis (DCIA) reconstituted the shape of his face and mouth.
