DescriptionBelow-the-knee amputation prosthesis for an adult. Set of two identical prosthesis for left and right leg, would have been made for a patient who had lost both legs below the knee. Aluminium leg shafts with attached rigid feet are enclosed in synthetic fabric covering, secured in place with red tape. Loose leather inserts fastened with adjustable elastic and leather straps to leather lace-up thigh corset, would have held and supported the leg stumps. Thigh corsets attached to leg shafts with aluminium hinges, covered in protective leather shafts. Adjustable leather strap at back of leg would have provided additional support. Adjustable elastic and leather straps fastened on outside of thigh corset as well as on front of aluminium leg shaft connect to an elastic and leather hip belt which would have provided additional support for the wearer of these heavy prostheses.
