DescriptionShock machine in hinged case with side compartment, manufactured by Schall & Son in London, between 1980-1917. It was used in the Gartnavel Eye Hospital to treat trachoma, also called granular conjunctivitis. Lifting the lid there is the internal electroshock mechanism, with two lightbulb sockets, one brass switch and a brass miliampere meter, going from 15 to 150 amp. On the miliampere face, there is a handwritten serial number 70065. To conduct the electricity, the magnetic coil, controlled manually with a dial signalling strong (left) and weak (right), two cables to attach to the machine, coloured in red and green, and to the wooden handles to apply the electrotreatment to the patient.
