DescriptionWriting desk used and owned by Jack Copland [an Edinburgh dentist] established the Edinburgh Blood Transfusion Service in 1936 which by 1940 developed into the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service. Mahogany [veneer] writing desk with inlaid and embossed leather top. The front is arched to create leg access with a central drawer above, a single deep drawer to the right and double drawers to the left.
