DescriptionEyeball, section of a right, showing an incised wound through the inferior part of the cornea.
From a male aged 5 years the subject of an accidental stab with a knife. The iris was prolapsed and the lens was opaque. Perception of light was doubtful and the eye was shrinking and tender to touch before being enucleated.
The cornea shows a linear wound in its lower third, which is surrounded by a subacute inflammatory reaction. Microscopic examination showed inflammatory infiltration of the ciliary body and the iris. Iris tissue and lens material are incarcerated in the corneal wound. There is also inflammatory exudate in the vitreous and the retina is detached.
