It is inscribed: “Presented to George Mackay Esq MD As a testimonial of appreciation of his professional care and of personal regard and esteem. Ootacamund. December 31st 1860” It bears the names of several ladies (“mistresses”) and gentlemen (“messieurs”) and officers who include a General and a Lt Colonel. It was donated by George Mackay, PRCSEd, son of the George Mackay to whom it was originally presented.
