This may have been the cigar box which was donated by James Williamson Galloway (1905-1983). Galloway came from Edinburgh and obtained his LDS in 1926 and LRCP&S Ed in 1927, FDS Ed 1964 and Glasgow 1967. He became assistant dental surgeon to Edinburgh Dental Hospital in 1927 and enrolled in the Territorial Army as Medical Officer in 1931. On the outbreak of war in 1939, he was posted with the RAMC to India and after the war was OC 155 Field Ambulance as Lt Col TD. In 1948 he became Regional Dental Officer in the NHS and in 1958 Chief Dental Officer at the Dept of Health for Scotland. He established the first school for dental hygienists.
