DescriptionMITREX cartridge syringe, needle in glass tube, two vials of ergometrine maleate, one empty solvent vial, contained within metal box. Dates c. mid-20th Century.
The cartridge syringe was for use with disposable, pre-filled glass cartridge vials. It consists of a central hollow cylindrical barrel, plunger with thumb rest and crossbar finger rest.
The ergometrine maleate is used during the third stage of labour to help maintain contractions of the uterus, or after birth to help prevent and treat bleeding.
