DescriptionFive steel tuning forks of different sizes and weights in a leather covered wooden case, used to test hearing sensitivity. One fork is missing from the case.The forks are made by H. Pfau, Berlin. The smaller of the two speculum has the maker's mark 'Young, Edinburgh' stamped on the rim. Speculum are used to give direct sight of an area usually obstructed from view. In this case, they would be used to view the ear canal.
