From an adult the subject of left chronic septic otitis media, and who died of septic leptomeningitis. The removal of a segment by horizontal incision from the inferior aspect of the left temporal lobe exposes an extensive oval abscess cavity surrounded by a narrow hyperaemic zone and lined by a purulent deposit on its wall. A septic leptomeningitis covers the cerebral peduncles, the pons, medulla, and various areas of the cerebellum.
