Removed by operation from a female aged 30 years whose maxillary incisor teeth had been extracted seventeen years previously as they were “unsightly and arranged in two irregular rows.” At 27 years of age a maxillary sinusitis was operated on and shortly after that a nasal polypus was removed. A year later she noticed black spots on the gum and these had gradually increased in size, and a biopsy showed the structure of a melanoma. Since then the discoloration has extended and tends to become prominent and nodular.
The black patches are irregular and their outline somewhat ill defined with here and there outlying black spots. The pigmentation varies in density.
