From a male from Travancore, India, aged 76 years, in whom the carcinoma was alleged to have been excited by chewing betel-nut.
The gingivobuccal mucosa shows a well defined, circular, hypertrophic neoplasm, slightly ulcerated and necrotic in its centre. It extends over the alveolar process which is edentulous and measures some 35 mm. in its maximum diameter. The carcinoma has extended through the soft structures on the facial aspect and forms on the cutaneous surface a firm projecting nodule some 15 mm. in diameter. It is pink in the centre where it has destroyed the pigmented, superficial layers of the skin, and is surrounded by a zone with slight heaping up of epithelium
