The preparation is a portion of the left half of an adult mandible, showing a follicular odontome, a type of benign tumour.
Posterior to the second premolar tooth the body and ramus of the mandible is expanded to form an unilocular cyst around the crown of the unerupted 3rd molar tooth. The wall of the cyst is fibrous and at least 2 mm. thick and the cavity is lined with irregular fibrinous inflammatory deposit.
