TitleSpleen showing laceration
DescriptionSpleen showing laceration.
From an adult male who while riding his bike was run down by a car, and allegedly was struck by the radiator. A splenectomy (removal of the spleen) was performed and followed by complete recovery.
From the lateral end to its medial extremity the diaphragmatic surface of the spleen is crossed obliquely by an irregular laceration from the bulging margins of which the capsule has been torn. A deep laceration notches the superior border and on the visceral surface crosses the hilum from which other shorter lacerations radiate.
