TitleA "mixed" tumour (Pleomorphic adenoma) from the left parotid salivary gland
DescriptionA "mixed" tumour (Pleomorphic adenoma) from the left parotid salivary gland
From an adult female in whom this was a local recurrence after removal of two previous tumours, including GC.1292-2 four months earlier. Rapid recurrence took place and the tumour attained considerable size before death (see GC.1292)
The tumour has been removed with an elliptical portion of overlying skin. It is nodular on the surface and appears to have developed several outgrowths. Section shows a thin capsule with septa dividing the tumour into several masses, some of which appear necrotic. Microscopic examination shows groups of epithelial cells with polymorph infiltration.
