DescriptionHalf of a vertical section of a “mixed” tumour from a parotid salivary gland.
From an adult.
At its most dependent part the tumour seems to be involving the skin. It has a fairly regular surface and is covered by a thin capsule. On section it constitutes a fleshy, yellowish-brown mass with here and there small spaces some of which are regular and lined by epithelium while others, larger and irregular, are the result of neoplasmic necrosis. Microscopic examination shows large areas of oedematous connective tissue and masses of epithelial cells which vary much ln size and have ln places an acinar arrangement.
