TitleMouth. A portion of the maxillary mucoperiosteum from the, showing a fibroma.
DescriptionMouth. A portion of the maxillary mucoperiosteum from the, showing a fibroma.
From a female aged 40 years from whom all the maxillary teeth had been extracted six months previously. Three months ago a small tumour was noticed on the gum over the right maxilla. It increased in size, and as all the mandibular right teeth were present, the tumour got bitten by the mandibular right molar teeth, bled, and became ulcerated. When removed with its surrounding gum and subjacent periosteum, there was no tooth root found which might have been an exciting cause.
The tumour is slightly irregular on the surfaces It is oval, an measures 17 mm. in its long and 12 mm. in its short axis, and projects some 7 mm. from the mucosal surface. Microscopically it is a fibroma.
