Later he developed a cough and was sent to a sanatorium where the abscess of the liver was discovered and aspirated and the pus found to be sterile. Later when a repetition of the aspiration failed the abscess was opened and drained and he did not long survive the operation. The section of the liver with a thickened portion of diaphragm attached shows in its substance an irregular ragged-walled cavity surrounded by a consolidated condensed fibrous capsule.
