Section of a portion of a liver showing metastatic carcinoma, from a female aged 7 years in whom the carcinoma was primary in the rectum.
The surface of the liver shows numerous irregular raised whitish areas with a tendency to umbilication in the centre. The capsule of the liver is not thickened. On section there is extensive carcinomatous growth which has produced great destruction of the hepatic parenchyma and many of the nodules show a gelatinous colloid degeneration.
