TitleStomach showing Carcinoma
DescriptionSpecimen and Histological Glass Slide x2
Portion of the stomach showing carcinoma.
From a male aged 66 who had suffered indigestion during the many years and had been operated on for ''gastric ulcer'' ten years previously. During the last seven weeks he had had severe epigastric pain with much vomiting and marked anorexia. There had been no obvious loss in weight.
At operation there were no metastases in the peritonal cavity or the liver, and only a few small metastases in the lymph nodes of the upper coronary group.
The carcinoma has infiltrated the stomach wall extensively, from the pylorus to the proximal part of the body of the stomach, and has caused great thickening of the mucous coat.
Microscopically the growth is a glandular carcinoma composed of large cells which show little or no acinus formation.
