TitleStomach showing Polyposis
DescriptionSpecimen and Histological Glass Slide x8
Description of specimen:
The specimen is a portion of the stomach in which the whole of the mucosa is covered by a multitude of polyps. In one area they are aggregated to form a larger projecting lobule. Menetrier used the term "polyadenome en nappe" to distinguish, this confluent form of gastric polyposis from other forms in which each polyp is discrete and has a well-defined separate pedicle - "polyadenoma polypeaux". Numerous portions of the tumour were examined and all appeared well differentiated. Despite this, metastases became obvious a year later suggesting that at least part of the tumour was malignant.
