TitleOesophagus showing ulceration
DescriptionOesophagus showing ulceration.
From a female with a 6 year history of epigastric pain. Clinical history and histology in GC ledger
The specimen demonstrates an ovoid ulcerated area in the wall of the oesophagus which has penetrated all coats. The oesophageal wall proximal to the ulcer is thickened. Note the sloughing base of the ulcer and the irregular rounded edges typical of peptic ulceration, This would appear to be a Barrett's ulcer.
