DescriptionMixed salivary adenoma of hard palate.
From female aged 50 years. The patient was referred to the Edinburgh Dental Hospital because of a swelling in the palate. On clinical examination the patient was edentulous. These was a swelling, 2cm, in diameter situated in the palate, in the left molar region. Histological examination showd that the growth was composed of salivary gland tissue. Radical excision was carried out.
Further histological examination of a portion of the tumour nearest the hard palate, showed that the tissue retained in some fields the characteristics of a mixed parotid growth but there was also a diffuse cellular growth habit with well defined squamous differentiation. Keratinished whorls were of frequent occurence. The patient was further treated with radium applicator.
