DescriptionPostmortem set, incomplete, containing 12 or 13 instruments by Weiss, c.1850s. Included: a skull saw, costotome (hammer), sprung tweezers, needle, bowel scissors, chisel, rachitome chisel, three scalpels (one by Down, London), and a spring socket handle fitting two blades (cartilage knives?). Possibly a blow pipe and more needles would be included in the original full set.
The chain hooks in the image may or may not be part of the set. They would usually be included in a postmortem set but are unmarked and may have come from another set in the collection.
