Liber chronicarum 1493: Nuremberg Chronicle. Colophon reads - Now, studious reader, comes the end of the book of Chronicles compiled by way of an epitome and abridgement, a work distinguished indeed, and which ought to be purchased by every scholar. For it contains the most noteworthy deeds from the beginning of the world down to our own unfortunate times. It has been corrected by the most learned men so that it might come into the light in more perfect form. At the request and under the supervision of the prudent citizens Sebald Schreyer and Sebastian Kamermaister Herr Anthonius Koberger printed this book at Nuremberg. But he also employed the services of mathematicians and men most skilled in the art of painting Michael Wolgemut and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff by whose skilled and painstaking attention pictures of cities and famous men have been inserted. It was completed on 12 July in the year of our salvation 1493.
