Archival historyInside the front cover is a letter dated 24th December 1951 from Dr J Colin Caird, son of presumably Francis Caird, student then surgeon at the Royal Infirmany of Edinburgh, to Professor (later Sir) Walter Mercer. decsibes how the ward book was found in a bin outside the hospital around 1880.
